Recently, Ford announced a new more powerful and cleaner combination of a 6.0-liter
Power Stroke Diesel and a 5-speed Torque shift automatic transmission to produce
a 550 foot-pounds torque with 325 horsepower at 3,300 rpm. This new diesel offers
10% better economy fuel with 20% lower emissions. This new combination will offer
a haven of comfortable rides because of its 20% noise reduction and improved speech
intelligibility.

The engine uses a single, block-mounted camshaft in a compact over-head valve
design, with hydraulic-valve lash adjustment giving it an ideal system for engines
with a normal operating range of not more than 4,000 rpm. This design gives a
maximized endurance in the quality and performance of engines. The improved power
train features a ?tow-haul mode? that can easily be controlled when towing large
loads in steep grades. Its high-pressure hydraulic rail system generates injection
pressure supported by fuel injectors. As it is quickly atomized, it generated
into its combustion chamber a clean and efficient combustion event. This new power
train is found in F-Series Super Duty and Excursion models.
